2009, a new school year for us.

seriously it's supposed to be a new start for all of us. However, i see the same old people gathering around in our batch, isolating the others.

it's good for us to have someone that we are close to in the batch so that we wouldn't be lonely.
But recently it's getting worst.
What i see is some of us was trying to get close to the rest of the batch, even though they are like, erm, sort of - out of reach for them.

and i have got complains from friends who are not councillors, they said that some of us like to gather at the corridor chatting loudly, and they find it annoying.

not to make us look bad or whatever.
just to let everyone know what the student body think about us, and we can strive for the best together.

please forgive me if i have said something that offended anyone of you.

Hey people,
It's good to see that people are speaking up in the batch blog,even though they are posting anonymously.Since someone has already started the ball rolling,i shall share my point of view on certain issues.Just be sure not to doze off if you find this boring because i dont think along the same line as most.My most sincere apologies for being such an extra but there may be people who think like me.

First of all,is the mother of all problems.Discipline.To me,it is more like the easiest-to-solve-issue.What is so difficult about maintaining a good discipline standard,i dont know.I will separate this into hair and socks,which are the more compelling issues(generally).The reason why we have low socks is because we think it is cool.Then again,how difficult is it for one to pull up his/her socks by a mere 5cm(max)?Does this make the person any less cool?And as for the fringe,some feel more attractive or they just feel more confident about their looks,while others are just subject of peer pressure.I wouldnt say it wrong to have such a perspective,but try a different hairstyle which does not confirm your failure in the case of discipline standard.And i forgot to mention this 'information' is something i got through random surveys i asked atleast 5 people in our batch.Not saying it is applied for the others in the batch.But my point is,you dont have to have long fringe to look or feel good.Take faruq and waichi for example.They have nice hairstyles which definitely pass,and yet they look good.

And take pearly for instance.She had alot of trouble making sure her socks were acceptable initially.Look at her now.She does not give in to peer pressure(no offence..bball stuff) and her socks has always passed ever since.Think about it carefully.It is all about your mindset and how you look at things.Even though pearly has higher socks,i still think she is cool.So i personally feel that this is a trivial matter that can easily be solved if everyone tries equally hard.

And then here comes the problem questioning our batch motto.Unity.Unity does not ONLY mean the ability for everyone to be good friends with one another.There is a deeper meaning to it.It means to come together as a batch in times of a crisis to put our heads together and come up with a solution.It means for us to to never break away from one another when facing the near impossible.It means to present ourselves as a single batch of student council instead many individual student councillors to the student body,teachers and the remaining school.And it can also mean to come together and celebrate our success as a batch and pat each others back whenever we falter.So please dont hurt the sanctity of the word 'unity' by merely saying that it is for us to be good friends,because that is just part of it.

And then,some of us are unhappy with the teachers and our seniors.It is ok to question.But not to confront.We should always keep in mind that it wont take the teachers long to kick us out of the batch if we are over rebelious.And as councillors,we are still students.So we should respect the teachers.And their decisions at times.Because they have the upper hand with the higher authority and if we think of it carefully,we are fortunate that they even listen to us instead of forcing us to do things.And remember they are not obliged to listen to us.

So this is what i feel and atleast a few others feel the same way along with me.However i wouldnt say your other perspectives aint right.I am just saying,try look at it this way..

hey xfactors! from the previous post, i tink that we seriously needed to have a trash out meeting but most probably after 14th of feb due to the red cross are going to have their daily trainings. therefore me and itraih going to have a meeting most probably next week to share our solutions and asking u guys whether need to improve or any disagreements. because we needed to hand in the report to jamine by 5th of feb.

any disagreements can be voiced out so as to ensure that everyone agree to it and this made us a united batch. therefore we will inform u guys when to have meeting by friday?

oh well, i deletd the things i rote cause no one can read what i am trying to talk about. hahas so i will tell u giys at meeting. and tad why i ended up in english remedial class. sorry for the poor english

last but not least, there will be a meeting soon.

Before I continue with this post, I just want to say that whatever is written is solely based on my own personal opinion. And whatever in this post is not to offend anyone at any time.


X-factor.
What does it mean to you?
Is it a ticket for you to get free and easy CCA points?
Is it just a burden to you?

Haha , to be honest I find X-factor to be something truly close to me....
But lately i get really annoyed by the problems we face.

I mean OMG?
Why do we have to make a big deal out of Everything?
Why cant we just solve the problem and not argue about it ..

So in this post ill try to solve the problems out MYSELF...
I hope you will atleast consider these solutions....


DISCIPLINE
Haha ,I will start with something we most dread.
Discipline, why cant our batch just keep to these basic standards?
The reason : Because we dont want to!
Personally, i dont get it why we must keep to such standards.
It does not affect our studies ( obviously) , Or does it make us look rebelious ( Come on , more than half of the people in singapore dont keep these standards)...

But hard as we fought, we could not change the discipline teachers mind about this matter..

So my solution/s :
1. Instead of making up outrages demands about the standards to our batch, we should make a meeting about it. Discuss with everyone what the standard should be like.Get a standard where everyone agrees on.

2.If you really cant stand the standard, take action.Write proposals. Prove to the teachers why the standards are not really needed in this era. (Other schools have accepted these kind of proposal, we cant our school?)

ATTITUDE
These problem is a killer.
Seriously.

Lets look back at the past , when we were all newly elected student councillors, look back about a year and a half ago. What was our attitude towards councill? Ill tell you , we were enthuestic.

Its true, all of us did not look bad about council. instead we enjoyed being in it.What caused the change of mind?

1. The stress of possibility of council affecting our studies.
2. Influence of friends, stating negative things about us.
3. Rebelious attitude , in terms of disliking the rules set up for us.
4. Reluctance upon performing responsibilities.
5. Disliking people who have bad attitudes ( e.g 1. , 2. , 3. , 4.)

All in all , because of this attitude , some have created a possible solution. QUITTING.
And quoted from our beloved sec 1 co ord , yong kang, " It is a permanant solution to a temporary problem!"

What does it mean?
Basically it means that it just an easy way out of a small problem. And along the way , you will somewhat feel a sense of regret.

So my solution/s:
1. TRASH OUT! And this time , make sure everybody is there . This purpose is to simply try and understand people with this bad attitude towards council. And from there we come out with a solution. ( If we come out with a solution without confronting the person, not only will it be unfair
but it might not be the best solution and conflicts may occur)

2. Just give them another chance. Tell them politely that they had done something VERY wrong. and thus give them another chance. Slowly trust will foster among us and then , finally we will reach a common goal.

CLIQUES

Small groups within ourselves.
Not a problem?
WRONG!

Personally, i also have cliques here and there .

So whats wrong with having cliques?
IT WILL SLOWLY KILL OUR UNITY!

And thats a fact.
If you see the x-factor today , i can confidently say : WE ARE NOT UNITED !

Why?

Facts why we are not united:
1. Consiously among us , we want to kick people out. Why? because we label them as bad councillors , or even worse not one of us. Did we ever stop and think of a solution before wanting to kick them? Even if we did , did we continue with that solution? NO! we just gave up on them and wanted them to be kicked out.
2. Cliques have been formed whereby it can be seen that we are seperated. If you dont belief me try imagining after the meetings and after all the council stuff. Cant you see the boundaries among us? The boundary between the express and normal students .( it has been improved), the boundary among the different classes,the boundary among the different cliques.

So my solution/s:
1. Basically try to understand one another, get in touch with eveyone. Remove personal grudges.Forgive past mistakes. And accept apologise. If all of these are carried out, i can guarantee you, noone will ever dare say we are sepperated.
